Terrible service
Can't fault anything!
I have a lot of sympathy with doctors and the NHS, but like other reviews to try and get an appointment is madness. I had a call from the surgeries pharmacy asking me to attend for a blood pressure update with one of the nurses. During the call I mentioned that I had been trying to get an appointment for a prostrate which they say men of my age should get checked. There is a history of cancer in the male side of my family, plus my sister also had breast cancer. I've been experiencing some possible symptoms so really wanted to get peace of mind. The lady who rang said she would put a note forward to my particular doctor and one of them would be in touch! Surprise surprise nothing, so when picking up a repeat prescription I mentioned this and after some research I was told that i would need to see a doctor.I explained the problems I had been having and again after some research I was told that they could override the computer system and book me an appointment early the very next day i.e. 8.50am. I arrived just after opening time at 8.30am and there I sat! I understand that it is difficult to tell how long each appointment will take, but 50 minutes after my appointment time I was still waiting. Unfortunately my wife had surgery last week for breast cancer and having left at home in bed I really could not wait any longer. I believe that they base each appointment will be just 10 minutes and clearly this is unrealistic on my experience today which was a complete waste of time.
I get it's busy every where at Surgeries but this is mad. I've called 3 business days in a row from 8:30 till 9:30 to get told there is no appointments that day is annoying. I tried the online portal and there is no afternoon appointments for 3/4 weeks. When I get a letter to ask to visit and I know I need an appointment urgently I'm left no option to drive to the clinic. When I work for a service team myself this is hard to do. I'm disappointed with the limited spaces.
